The Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organization has declared 2018 as the year of wellness and rejuvenation.

Stakeholders within the Tourism and Hospitality Industry in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, are not only engaging their mind and body through various activities related to wellness and rejuvenation,  one of the main objectives of the 2018 Tourism Month celebration is to promote greater engagement of the tourism sector by providing activities for stakeholders ‘to learn and grow through their own experiences’.

The Ministry partners with Island Wide Fitness Gym to twin fitness and tourism education.   The first fitness activity was a walk to Fort Charlotte where over 70 persons journeyed from Kingstown to the fort, which stands 360 feet above sea level and offers a panoramic view of Kingstown, the industrial sites and a glimpse of a few of the Grenadine islands.

Additionally, Island Wide Fitness hosted a group of students from the CW Prescod Primary School at the gym. Owner and Gym Instructor, Mr. Keyon Constance, urged the students, “to eat healthy and exercise daily”. He emphasized that, “a healthy body and brain could help to boost creativity, which is critical for development in this ever-changing tourism industry”.

Also, on 17th November, 2018, there will be a free workout session dubbed ‘Yoga in the Gardens’. This activity is scheduled to take place at the Botanical Gardens from 7:00 - 7:45 am. The gardens is one of the oldest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, it is also one of the places where the national bird, the Amazon Guildingi, could be found.

The ministry wishes to encourage all locals to get to know the destination as we work together to promote our beautiful 32 islands and cays.

Some of the other upcoming activities for the month include:

  • Craft and Souvenir Exhibition on 15th and 16th November, 2018 at the Port Authority Lawn.
  • Yoga in the Gardens – 7:00  – 7:45 a.m.
