On Monday, 29th December, 2025, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) welcomed the inaugural cruise call of Oceania Allura, marking another significant milestone in the country’s cruise tourism sector.

To commemorate the occasion, a brief plaque exchange ceremony was held at the Cruise Ship Berth in Kingstown, featuring remarks and presentations by Captain Pavle Silic and the Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Sustainable Development, the Honourable Dr. Kishore Shallow.

Minister Shallow and his delegation welcomed the vessel, its passengers and crew on behalf of the Government and people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, underscoring the strategic importance of cruise tourism.

In his remarks, Dr. Shallow echoed the importance of the strategic partnership between the cruise line and SVG. “As we warmly welcome the crew and passengers of this new vessel, we express our deep appreciation for our longstanding relationship with Oceania Cruises. The plaque reaffirms our full commitment to strengthening and expanding this partnership,” said the Tourism Minister.

The cruise sector is a critical pillar of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ tourism industry and a key driver of inclusive economic growth. The Government remains firmly committed to policies that elevate cruise partnerships, enhance port and destination readiness, and ensure that the benefits of cruise tourism are widely shared across our communities.

CEO of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority, Carl James, also made a presentation to Oceania Cruises. Other members of the SVG delegation included Dr. Tamira Browne, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ms. Aina Browne, Quality Development Manager from the SVG Tourism Authority, and other representatives from the Modern Port Operating Company, and Coreas and Co.

Oceania Allura is one of the newest additions to the Oceania Cruises fleet, a luxury cruise line renowned for its destination-focused itineraries, refined onboard experiences and culinary excellence. The ship features elegant accommodations, a high staff-to-guest ratio, and amenities designed to appeal to travelers seeking immersive cultural and destination experiences. Carrying approximately 1,200 guests, the vessel caters to a market segment aligned with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ strategy to attract high-value visitors.

During their call, passengers had the opportunity to explore the destination, engage with local tour operators, artisans and businesses, and experience the rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and warm hospitality that define Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development, in collaboration with the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority and port stakeholders, remains committed to our partnerships and positioning the country as a premier, sustainable cruise destination in the Caribbean.
