The Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture proudly celebrates the outstanding performance of Ms. Ashecia Sam of the Department of Culture in the recently concluded Public Service Week Public Speaking Competition, hosted by the Ministry of the Public Service.
Competing under the compelling and timely theme, “Disaster risk mitigation is extremely challenging and perhaps an impossible notion for Small Island States”, Ms. Sam delivered a powerful and technically grounded presentation that captivated the judges and audience alike. Her articulation of the nuanced vulnerabilities of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the face of intensifying climate events was both informed and inspiring.
Drawing from the Ministry’s multi-sectoral expertise in sustainable development, climate resilience, and heritage preservation, Ms. Sam’s presentation underscored the Ministry’s active role in national disaster risk reduction efforts. She highlighted key initiatives and integrated strategies ranging from the mainstreaming of climate resilience to the promotion of cultural continuity and environmental stewardship as essential tools in building national resilience.
