As part of the national Emancipation Month celebrations, the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, in collaboration with the Diamondites Community Organisation, proudly presents the Community Wake, Thursday, 31st July, at 10:00 p.m. in Diamond Village.

Held under the stirring theme “Embracing our past; forging into the future,” the Community Wake will be a night of deep cultural and spiritual significance, honouring the legacy of our ancestors and the long walk to freedom.

The programme will feature Praise and Reflection, solidarity messages, and cultural presentations.

The programme crescendos with performances by local artistes, followed by a solemn Candlelight March and the Reading of the Emancipation Declaration at 12:05 a.m., a symbolic moment that will mark the dawn of Emancipation Day and the enduring fight for freedom.

This event is a cornerstone of the Ministry’s efforts to promote cultural heritage, historical consciousness, and intergenerational connection within communities across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Members of the public are invited to attend and participate in this powerful evening of remembrance, celebration, and recommitment to freedom.
