On Saturday, 9th August, 2025, the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture hosted the Future Africa Fashion & Art Exhibition at the Old Public Library. This dynamic Emancipation Month feature brought together the richness of African heritage and the innovation of contemporary design under the theme: “Embracing our past; forging into the future.”
From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the venue transformed into a vibrant hub of style, artistry, and cultural pride, drawing audiences from across the nation. The exhibition featured striking works by some of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ leading creatives.
The six (6) fashion designers showcased included the following: Kimya Glasgow, Nkuru Dyer, Jeremy Payne – Fashion is Payne, Ikesha Delpesche – Ngozi, Lisa Cordice – Poshelle, and Martin Francis – Vic-Torious Fabricationz.
The six (6) visual artists present also showcased Vincentian-themed artwork and artwork that told tales of African heritage in Vincentian society. The featured artists were: Francis Art & Designs, Donnie Collins – Collinzart, Nzimbu Browne, ProviArt, Roland “Scrapie” Dopwell, and Nkuru Dyer.
Guests experienced an inspiring blend of fashion innovation and visual artistry, with pieces that told stories of resilience, identity, and vision for the future. The event reinforced the role of Emancipation Month as a platform for celebrating Afro-Vincentian heritage and creativity.
The Ministry extends gratitude to all participating designers, artists, and attendees who made the exhibition a memorable highlight of the Emancipation Month calendar.
