Four days. Over 30 participants. One shared goal: advancing climate transparency for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, through its Sustainable Development Unit, in partnership with the Capacity-Building Initiative for Transparency–Global Support Programme (CBIT-GSP) and the UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre Caribbean, successfully hosted the Accelerating BTR Preparation Workshop, launched on July 21, 2025.
The workshop brought together key national stakeholders to strengthen their technical capacity in preparing the country’s First Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1) and Third National Communication (TNC) under the Paris Agreement. Participants received training in critical aspects of climate reporting, including greenhouse gas inventories, tracking progress on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), adaptation reporting, and climate finance.
Beyond technical skills, the workshop fostered collaboration across agencies, enhancing the national data systems essential for accurate, timely, and transparent climate reporting. This coordinated approach will play a pivotal role in supporting future reporting cycles and advancing the nation’s climate commitments.
“This initiative marks a significant milestone in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ journey toward enhanced climate transparency and action,” said Nafesha Richardson, Project Coordinator. The expertise gained will directly contribute to more effective climate policies and greater accountability to international commitments.
As global climate action demands greater accuracy and openness, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering credible, high-quality climate data and reporting.
