The Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development convened a dynamic stakeholder consultation under the theme “Elevating SVG Tourism: Unlocking Opportunities” on Thursday, 12th March, 2026, at the Beachcombers Hotel Conference Room.
The session, hosted by the Hon. Dr. Kishore Shallow, brought together representatives from across the tourism sector including airlines, accommodation providers, tour operators, taxi associations, tourism businesses, and community stakeholders. In his remarks, Minister Shallow emphasised that elevating tourism is not solely about increasing visitor arrivals but about enhancing visitor experiences, strengthening global competitiveness, preserving the authenticity of the Vincentian product, and seizing new opportunities for sustainable growth.

Among the key areas discussed were the need for improved infrastructure, including road access, lighting, and water security in key tourism areas. Stakeholders also emphasised the importance of environmental protection, particularly reef preservation and sustainable marine practices, to safeguard the country’s natural assets.

Tourism operators highlighted opportunities to expand and diversify the tourism product through initiatives such as the development of hiking trails, community-based tourism experiences, underwater attractions, and the promotion of local cuisine and cultural offerings. Stakeholders also stressed the need for stronger destination marketing, enhanced customer service training, and greater tourism education among the wider population to foster national pride and strengthen the country’s reputation as a high-quality destination.

The meeting forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to engage stakeholders in shaping policies and strategies that will strengthen the tourism sector and position Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as a competitive and authentic destination in the global tourism market. The Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development remains committed to fostering partnerships and unlocking new opportunities that will elevate the country’s tourism industry while preserving the unique character and natural beauty that define the destination.
