Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) proudly welcomed the inaugural cruise call of the AIDA Sol, marking another significant milestone in the continued expansion and diversification of the nation’s cruise tourism sector.
A commemorative plaque exchange ceremony was held at the Cruise Ship Berth in Kingstown to mark the occasion. The ceremony featured remarks and a presentation by Captain Nicola Dolfi, symbolising the strengthening relationship between the destination and leading international cruise operators.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the Honourable Dr. Kishore Shallow, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Dr. Tamira Browne, underscored the significance of the inaugural visit. She highlighted the strategic importance of deepening engagement with the European market, noting that such calls are critical to broadening visitor reach, enhancing destination visibility, and driving sustainable tourism growth.
The official delegation included representatives from the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, the Civil Aviation Department, the Zero Hunger Trust Fund, and Coreas & Co. Ltd., all of whom joined in extending a warm Vincentian welcome to the vessel’s passengers and crew. A destination welcome was also delivered onboard by the Modern Port Operations Company, further showcasing the country’s unique tourism offerings.
Operated by AIDA Cruises, the vessel arrived with 2,200 passengers, along with crew members. The call reflects growing interest from the European cruise market and signals increasing confidence in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as an emerging and desirable Caribbean destination.
During their visit, passengers explored a range of curated experiences, engaging with local tour operators, artisans, and businesses, while immersing themselves in the destination’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant communities, and renowned natural beauty.
