The Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the national tourism sector following a high-level stakeholder consultation held under the theme “Elevating SVG Tourism: Unlocking Opportunities.”
The strategic forum, convened on Thursday, 12th March, 2026, brought together a broad cross-section of tourism partners, including airlines, hoteliers, tour operators, transport providers, and community representatives, in a unified effort to shape a more competitive, sustainable, and inclusive tourism industry.
Delivering feature remarks, Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development, Honourable Dr. Kishore Shallow, emphasised that the future of tourism in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines must be defined not solely by increased arrivals, but by the quality, authenticity, and sustainability of the visitor experience. He underscored the importance of positioning the destination distinctly within the global market while preserving its unique cultural and natural heritage.
The Minister outlined a forward-looking off-season strategy anchored on four key pillars:
- Tourism Product Development,
- Marketing and Destination Positioning,
- Tourism Education and Awareness, and
- Events and Festivals.
Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Dr. Tamira Browne, in her welcome remarks, highlighted the meeting as a critical first step in strengthening collaboration across the sector. She noted that tourism development requires collective ownership, driven by strong partnerships between government, private sector stakeholders, and communities.
The consultation yielded valuable insights and actionable recommendations across several priority areas, including: infrastructure and accessibility, environmental sustainability, tourism product enhancement, marketing and branding, education and community engagement, cruise and transportation services, and regulatory efficiency and business support.
The Ministry views the forum as a pivotal moment in advancing a shared vision for tourism, one that balances growth with sustainability, and global competitiveness with local empowerment.
The Ministry further affirmed its commitment to ongoing stakeholder engagement, including expanded consultations across the Grenadines, to ensure that development remains inclusive, responsive, and aligned with national priorities.
As Saint Vincent and the Grenadines continues to gain global attention for its unspoiled beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality, the Government remains resolute in its mission to position the destination as a premier, high-value tourism offering in the Caribbean and beyond.
