The Ministry of Tourism will be moving forward this month with its plan to enhance the appearance of the capital city, Kingstown.
Word of this came from the Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, Shafia London, during the media launch on Saturday, October 31, of the new Tourism Brand Identity.
Ms. London said the Kingstown Enhancement Project will be going into high gear throughout the month of November.
London stated: "We've started, and I want to commend the businesses and the individuals who have started work on the Kingstown Enhancement Project. Some of what you are seeing, they are subtle, but I can tell you there are new markings on the street, for example, that the police have put down that you didn't see two weeks ago. There were slabs of concrete that were all over the walkway that have been removed, and it took a lot of heavy equipment to move them. They have been businesses that took it so seriously it looked as though they were having spring cleaning. They threw everything old out of their building, then power-washed and pulled down the grass off of their building. People are excited and they are doing the work. The Customs Department—just yesterday I spoke with the Comptroller and he said: 'We are painting the Customs Building, you know; are you ready for us?' Everybody is excited and you will see the big changes soon because we are in high gear."
