Tourism stakeholders will come under the spotlight this month as the Ministry of Tourism hosts activities to commemorate Tourism Month.
Communications Manager in the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Sustainable Development, Jewelene Charles‑Scott said activities will be held to recognize Tourism Stakeholders and highlight the importance of the tourism sector.
Mrs. Charles‑Scott said the activities commenced on Sunday November 1st, with a Church Service in Bequia.
Mrs. Scott noted: "In November we are celebrating Tourism Month where different destinations across the region, they take their time-out to recognise our stakeholders and to bring to the forefront of everyone's mind the importance of tourism in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. As part of the month, there are certain activities that we would be hosting in partnership with Hotel and Tourism Association and different key players within the industry. So on the 1st of November, we journeyed down to Bequia. We visited the Saint Mary's Virgin Anglican Church in Bequia and after that we had an incredible time with our stakeholders up at Spring Hotel. And we also have what we call 'Tourism in Motion' and we are going to schools throughout Saint Vincent and the Grenadines."
Mrs. Charles‑Scott said the activities will continue tomorrow with a tourism seminar at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
She further noted: "Another important activity is on the 4th of November. This is our Tourism Seminar, so the Tourism Seminar will focus on those touch points. Persons who are working at the touch points; particularly those at Immigration Department, Customs, the Port Ambassadors, the Taxi Drivers, Tour Operators, all those touch points where our visitors will interact with our locals. So what we are doing is that we are going to have a seminar just to give us a bit of refresher and the focus of that seminar will be harmonising customer care and conflict management. So it's about experience in every interaction."
